Earthworks Supervisor
Lead civil earthworks delivery team on major FIFO mining capital projects in Far North Queensland.
- Lead up to 50 operators & trades on major civil earthworks projects
- FIFO 16/12 roster in Far North QLD delivering complex mining infrastructure
- Drive safety, quality, schedule and environmental compliance onsite
You will be responsible for leading and coordinating a team of up to 50 plant operators and trades, providing clear direction across daily activities, equipment usage, and production targets. You will oversee earthworks programs, ensuring alignment with schedule, quality requirements, environmental standards, and project risk controls.
In this role, you will act as a key site-based leader, supporting stakeholder communication, interpreting plans and permits, and driving daily reporting and continuous improvement across construction delivery.
This role will be on a rolling 12 month contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site-based delivery of civil earthworks capital works programs
- Supervise and coordinate up to 50 operators, trades, and contractors
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Manage equipment allocation, materials, and plant scheduling
- Monitor progress and deliver accurate daily reports and documentation
- Interpret plans, permits, and technical drawings to guide execution
- Identify risks, implement controls, and support corrective actions
- Drive pre-start meetings, clear communication, and team coordination
- Liaise with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders on delivery
- Foster a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset
- Strong background in civil construction supervision (earthworks focus)
- Proven leadership of plant operators and contractor teams in remote sites
- Previous experience running scraper teams
- Strong commitment to HSE leadership and safe delivery practices
- Experience with large civil infrastructure or mining projects
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans, and permits
- Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- Confident working with mobile plant including excavators and graders
- Flexible approach to FIFO work arrangements
- Even-time FIFO roster – 16 days on / 12 days off
- Travel during working hours
