Concentis was engaged to place an experienced Construction Lead for construction of a sporting complex in Weipa, Far North Queensland.

Our Construction Lead was placed with client Rio Tinto to oversee the construction of a sports complex in Weipa, Far North Queensland.

Rio Tinto is a mining and metals company operating in 36 countries around the world.

Rio Tinto has a strong presence in Weipa and Queensland’s far north with a number of mines and associated infrastructure located across the region.

The sports complex consists of 3 tennis courts, 3 squash courts, multipurpose indoor court, gym, yoga room, creche and amenities.

With an established background in project delivery, our Construction Lead was integral in the safe and timely delivery of this important project.

Our Construction Lead was embedded in the client’s delivery team and was responsible for:

• Management of the Principal Contractor and their specialist subcontractors.
• Ensuring health and safety obligations were met.
• Management of contractors to ensure compliance with stringent Quality Assurance.
• Management of client reporting requirements.

With tight budget constraints, our Construction Lead was heavily involved in a value engineering process to ensure the project could be delivered in a cost-effective manner.
