Concentis was engaged to place an experienced Construction Supervisor for a bridge remediation project in Far North Queensland.
Our Construction Supervisor was placed with client Rio Tinto to oversee the remediation of an existing shared vehicle / rail bridge at their East Weipa operations, located in Far North Queensland.
Rio Tinto is a mining and metals company operating in 36 countries around the world.
Rio Tinto’s Weipa operations in Far North Queensland include bauxite mines and associated processing facilities, shiploaders, an export wharf, ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals.
Concentis’ Construction Supervisor’s extensive experience in the coating of mining and oil/gas infrastructure components saw him perfectly positioned to oversee the upgrade to the existing bridge structure.
The 1km long bridge over the Mission River provides road and rail access to the mine’s shiploader and consists of concrete piers and headstocks, with a steel superstructure.

Integral to the success of this project, was the extensive process involved in the safe removal of the old lead and asbestos-based coating on the steel structure.
Our Construction Supervisor ensured that the stringent safety protocols were adhered to by contractors, while maintaining quality assurance in line with the client’s specifications.
