Inventory Controller

The Role
As the Inventory Controller, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day inventory operations while supporting inventory optimisation initiatives across the site. Working closely with Maintenance, Warehousing, Procurement, Planning, and Finance teams, you will ensure inventory levels are aligned to operational requirements while identifying opportunities to reduce excess stock and improve inventory performance.
Your role will focus on maintaining inventory accuracy, managing the material master catalogue, analysing inventory usage, supporting forecasting activities, and ensuring critical materials are available when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute site inventory strategies and manage inventory performance to ensure critical materials are available
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including material creation, cataloguing, stock optimisation, reconciliations, and reporting
- Analyse inventory usage and performance data to identify optimisation opportunities, reduce excess stock, and improve inventory outcomes
- Liaise with different teams to forecast material requirements and support operational and maintenance activities
- Monitor supplier delivery performance and investigate variances to minimise impacts on business operations
- Manage physical inventory verification, stock adjustments, and the disposal of surplus or obsolete inventory in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Maintain the material master catalogue and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and service provider
- Demonstrated experience in inventory or materials management within mining, refining, manufacturing, heavy industry, or similar environments
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to interpret inventory data and identify improvement opportunities
- Proven experience building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships across multiple business functions
- Experience working with ERP systems, with SAP experience highly regarded
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and business management systems
- Ability to interpret technical or engineering drawings
- Knowledge of procurement and sourcing functions
- Understanding of inventory-related accounting or finance processes
