We are partnering with a well-established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy to appoint an experienced Principal Civil Engineer / Area Manager to oversee the delivery of transport infrastructure projects across North Queensland while supporting regional growth.
This role combines technical, operational, and commercial responsibilities, with a strong focus on project delivery, client relationships, market presence, business development, and multidisciplinary team management.
This is a highly visible position with significant influence across regional strategy, client engagement, and project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership across roads & highways and transport infrastructure projects
- Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Build and maintain strong relationships across government, transport, and infrastructure clients
- Drive business growth through proposals, tenders, and client engagement activities
- Oversee project performance across safety, quality, schedule, and commercial outcomes
- Manage team resourcing, utilisation, and workforce planning
- Contribute to regional operational strategy and growth initiatives
- Provide technical oversight and governance across project delivery
- Collaborate nationally across multidisciplinary project teams
- Significant experience within transport infrastructure, particularly roads and highways
- Leadership experience within an engineering consultancy environment
- Strong client relationship management and stakeholder engagement capability
- Experience leading teams and mentoring technical professionals
- Commercial awareness across project delivery, profitability, and utilisation
- Proven ability contributing to work-winning, tenders, or business development activities
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary infrastructure project environments
