We are exclusively partnering with a Tier-1 Mining Asset Owner to source an experienced Project Engineer to support and deliver a package of electrical-related projects on a brownfield mining operation.

As part of the Capital Delivery Team, you will help support the planning and execution of capital projects to optimise the efficiency of assets across this Aluminum Smelter based in New Zealand.

This is a client-side position based in the Brisbane Head Office with adhoc site travel, and flexible WFH options provided.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and define project scopes for electrical renewal works, including transformer, switchgear, and switchboard replacements.
  • Conduct site assessments and engage stakeholders to validate requirements, clarify scope, and resolve technical uncertainties
  • Prepare key project documentation, including Scope of Work (SoW), technical specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and execution plans.
  • Coordinate and manage engineering consultants and contractors through design phases, including reviews, technical queries, and stakeholder liaison.
  • Support tendering, contractor evaluation, and award processes with technical input.
  • Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and organizational procedures while supporting project handover from definition through to execution.

About You:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, project management or equivalent related experience
  • Experience in managing electrical disciplinary works in a brownfield environment throughout the mining, construction or heavy industrial sector is strongly preferred
  • Proven capability to deliver projects related to the upgrades and refurbishments of HV/LV equipment including cables, switchboards and transformers
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with an understanding of all project deliverables is a MUST
  • Effective written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to manage a budget and interact across business functions
