Project Mechanical Engineer

As part of the site Reduction Team, you will provide project engineering, planning and supporting the delivery for a growing portfolio of project works that sit outside the day-to-day maintenance workload.
This is a Monday to Friday position that requires the individual to be based or relocate to Invercargill NZ.
Accountabilities:
- Deliver mechanical engineering and project support across the Reduction Team's portfolio of assets, upgrades and improvement initiatives.
- Manage small to medium mechanical projects from initial scoping and engineering through to execution and close-out.
- Develop practical engineering solutions for asset defects, equipment issues, modifications and reliability improvements.
- Provide technical support to the Maintenance Engineering and Operations teams, including investigating recurring equipment issues and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders, engineering consultants and contractors to ensure projects and engineering activities are delivered effectively.
- Review equipment condition, inspection findings and maintenance requirements and provide recommendations for repairs, modifications, upgrades and maintenance strategies.
- Provide technical engineering support during construction and execution activities, ensuring works comply with approved designs, standards and site requirements.
- Ensure all engineering and project activities are delivered safely and in accordance with HSEC requirements, statutory obligations, engineering standards and change management processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience as a Mechanical Engineer or Project Engineer within mining, metals, heavy industrial, manufacturing, energy or a similar environment.
- Mining or heavy industry experience is essential, preferably within a complex brownfield operation.
- Demonstrated project engineering experience across scoping, design, execution and close-out.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work effectively across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Projects teams.
- Practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Reliability engineering experience is desirable, with project exposure to crane or conveyor asset upgrades seen as highly regarded
