Here at Concentis, we have partnered with a Tier 1 mining client to start the search for a Mechanical Project Leader to work in their Brisbane office, but working with a delivery team in regional Queensland. You will be responsible for managing capital projects through every stage, ensuring they align with our client’s business needs. You will take ownership of the project lifecycle, from the initial Order of Magnitude phase through to the final Close Out. Collaborating closely with the engineering team, your leadership will ensure that each project is delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest safety standards.
This is a
Brisbane based role with adhoc site travel to Far North Queensland, on
a 12-month contract – with view to extend for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and promote safety initiatives, participating actively in prestart and lean meetings.
- Drive the project’s health, safety, and environmental performance improvements.
- Ensure effective engagement with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Transition projects seamlessly from one stage to the next.
- Define and manage project scope, ensuring all changes are documented and approved.
- Monitor project performance, identifying and addressing issues proactively.
- Maintain compliance with contract terms and manage project interfaces.
- Prepare and present all necessary documentation for gate reviews (PIC and BUIC).
- Oversee project scheduling and ensure adherence to KPIs.
- Track and report project productivity, managing cost forecasts and budget performance.
- Ensure clear communication with the project controls team at all times.
About You - Proven experience in project management, specifically within mechanical or engineering sectors.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of contract terms, budgeting, and cost control.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Previous experience in the mining sector is highly regarded.
